Ijede born theatre practitioner, Prince Adefolaju Idreez Sarumi, has emerged as the Chairman, Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioner (ANTP), Ikorodu LG Branch.
The endorsement of Sarumi, who is the Chief Executive Officer, Sarumi Royal Communication and Entertainment, took place on Thursday, at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, by the State Electoral Committee led by veteran actor, Mr Adewale Elesho, a.k.a. ‘Enu n jawaya Baba Dami’.
Sarumi had earlier emerged as the consensus Chairman in Ikorodu, at an election that took place at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
The new ANTP Chairman is a presenter, film producer and editor.
Other members of the ANTP Executive Committee are: Hon (Mrs) Folashade Peter (Vice Chairman), Pastor Faith Fanilola Olumuyiwa (General Secretary), Hon. Bayo Saka (Assistant General Secretary), Mrs Abiola Kawonise (Treasurer), Mr Babatunde Jafani (Organizing Secretary) and Mrs Kazeem Monsura (Financial Secretary).
Also included are Mrs Adéyemí Adesanya (State Representative), Mrs Omowunmi Jayesinmi (Welfare) andMr Abdul Wasiu Yakub (PRO).
Meanwhile, in a chat with THE IMPACT online, after his emergence on Thursday, Sarumi, thanked leaders and members of the ANTP in Ikorodu, for their trust in him
“I, Prince Idreez Adefolaju Sarumi, a native of Ijede and Egbin towns in Ikorodu Local Government, do appreciate all our members in Ikorodu for allowing me to be their Chairman and most especially, our leaders who have been in the film industry and have been living in Ikorodu for years. Among these are our Doyen of theatre, Veteran Babatunde Shakirudeen Thompson, Hon. Majiyagbe Bisiriyu, a.k.a. Majee, former Chairman, ANTP Ikorodu Branch, Hon. Abiodun Alao Ultra, incumbent Governor of ANTP, Lagos State and the former Chairman in Ikorodu, Mr O. James”, he said.
“I also want to thank Otunba Adeshola Aderounmu, a.ka. Mania, President and veteran, Adewale Elesho himself, Hon. Yomi Fabiyi, Madam Nike Pela, Sisi Onigarawa and a host of others in Ikorodu.
“I was selected by the chieftains and members in Ikorodu, and endorsed by the State Electoral Committee on Thursday, October 7, 2023, as the new Chairman of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, ANTP, Ikorodu Local Government branch”.
While soliciting for the support of elders and members of the association in achieving success, Sarumi assured members and residents of Ikorodu, of advancing the arts and film industry in Ikorodu.
“I am using this medium to solicit for the supports of all our existing Units members in Ikorodu, like Ayangburen, Alajede, Adeboruwa, Ranodu, Eweye and Sekunmade units”, he said.
“I promise to use my ability in uplifting the Art and Film Industry, most especially in Ikorodu, and to lead Ikorodu to the greater heights. Do enjoy yourselves and await our great entertainment actions in Ikorodu and its environ”, he assured.
The new Chairman was the Organizing Secretary, ANTP Ikorodu branch, for two tenures, and the Coordinator, Alajede Unit.
